Well, most of the time. Today is one of the first Saturdays in forever that we've actually been able to stay home and get some things done! "Things" includes weeding, pruning, cleaning, eating a big breakfast, watching movies, reading and napping. All this and it's only three o'clock!
I was thinking I had nothing huge or earth shattering to write about. On the whole I think we're a rather dull lot. But I'll try to see if the minutae of my daily life equals those of you who correspond with me.
We know that Christopher was transferred from Mexico but we won't know where he went until our e-mail tomorrow. He won't be a trainer anymore but will be a District Leader. Out of the frying pan...
We're still trying to get into the swing of summer; it's easy to sleep late and do a lot of nothing. We don't mind but it seems to make Helen a little nervous. Comments of "are we going to get anything done today?" have made us experts in groaning and eye rolling, and that's in front of her face! We get things done, we tell her, we just move faster than she does so it just seems we don't get as much accomplished. For example, I took her yesterday to get a mani-pedi in preparation for her trip to AZ-UT and while we were gone for, oh, about 2 hours, Michael and Emily had their own "shock and awe" assault on the main floor of the house. When we arrived home it was beautifully cleaned. Helen was impressed. I was impressed with how much it annoyed Michael and Emily that shopping bags ruined their field of operations. We complied by putting things away expeditiously, with their help of course.
I'm submerged in Girl's Camp preparations. At least our Stake is eating their meals together so we're assigned the "sack lunch" meal for hike day for about 150 or so. Lots of price comparisons and budget planning going back and forth. Plus all the other planning, shopping, packing, equipment finding, etc. I'm remembering why I liked camping better as a youth! Anyone want a good laugh? At the pre camp clinics we plan and conduct with the Youth Leaders the girls are supposed to learn camping skills at the church building before we go to camp. Fire building and safety, first aid, orienteering, cooking... What are our activities at camp? Kite flying. Crafts. Games. YOGA!? Oh, and at least an hour a day of "private spiritual meditation time." I'll give you meditation time. Our ward's spiritual growth may be in the form of dice and cards, quietly and reverently, in our tents. I'm such a cooperative spirit.
We can't wait for Marianne and Co. to visit us at the end of the month. If you are reading this, Mari, I need Richard and Rachel to confirm their ice cream, cereal, and soda pop reservations. BTW, what day exactly will you be here?
Steven is winding down his yard puttering and Emily has emerged from the electronic gaming haze she had been in for three hours to say she's hungry. You know, it seems she's the one hanging over my shoulder all the time when I'm at this... The others seem to be able to care for themselves... I lvoe her but she hasn't gotten out of her pajamas since Tuesday night. Really, she hasn't. Even after she showers. Wait, has she showered?

I dare you to play Farkle quietly...well maybe if ou roll the dice on a sleeping bag and sahke them in your hands...!
We plan on being there on Saturday the 28th. Probably sometime mid-afternoon, epending on when we get away. NO ICE CREAM PLEASE!!! My will power is gone and I am so fat! Really, the stress of the last 8 months has made me a "comfort eater" and ice cream and chocolate are my biggest enemies!
All I have to say is camping with you sounds like a real treat! I remember hating girls camp but man the way you make it sound maybe I should go along with you!
I'm also rather jealous of Marianne and her family all coming to visit you! Sounds like it will be quite a party.
We are taking the kids July 1 and going to visit one of my friends from high school and her family in Oregon. We are looking forward to going. None of us have ever been there so it will be fun to go somewhere new and different and to be able to enjoy their nice wheather. However, I'm thinking we made a huge mistake! We should have come there for and joined the party!!!
Well take care and good luck with girls camp!
Love you tons turkey buns!!!
JoLynn
I really understand what you are saying about summer, my kids want to sleep ,or not do anything which in return is hard when daycare kids start getting here at 6:30 in the morning. Trying to get my 14 year old son off the xbox in the afternoon is tough cuz he is bored. I agree with Jolynn our girls camp was lame! Should have gotten to go with someone like you. By the wat if I was coming up there My favorite pop is pepsi, cereal is raisin bran crunch, and ice cream chocolate marshmellow ripple from the schwahn man. Since I am not coming up I guess it doesn't really matter!
love ya, Tara
