It's the Little Things That Matter the Most

It has been so crazy around here, and the stress! Oi to the vey! I'm so grateful for the things that have made me smile in the last week.

1. Getting to talk to Christopher on Christmas evening! We had been invited to a dinner that night and I called the mission home to give them our cell phone number for Chris to call. Sister Jensen said, "Oh, Elder Faria! I love him so much! I'm going to hang up and call him immediately with the phone number." That's when I cried. I loved hearing his voice, his laugh and his good spirits. He's doing such and awesome job and he is dedicated to working hard.

2. Having time from the craziness of the world and spending time with my husband and kids. Relaxing, playing games, staying up late, napping, wearing our pajamas until all hours of the day, watching movies with popcorn, catching up on books we've been wanting to read and basically milking our Christmas break for all it's worth.

3. Having loving parents who care about us.

4. My sweet sister Marianne e-mailing me photos of my birthday cake from Mom's camera card in UT. I think it turned out pretty cute.

5. Nick and Diana came for a visit! We had the pleasure of them staying the night with us on their way to Nick's parents home in Colorado Springs. Even better they came back and spent Saturday and Sunday with us. Thankfully the Denver Art Museum was here to lure Diana back to the Denver area. They are too fun to have around.

6. Watching family members on the Wii Fit. There was some pretty intense training going on! Nick really made the most of his time with the apparatus and I'm glad he did because it taught me a lot about how to do things.

Does that cake taste as good as it looks? You're amazing.

Hey--we're having an all-day/all-night Crop Fest at the Crop Shop tomorrow. You should stop by! My girls and I hope to be there by noon, or even a little before.

More of the same back at you! Over here on the left side of the Wasatch we are wallowing in the snow and doing much of what you all are! We have had so much fun with Mom but I think she is ready to come home today. There's no place like it, you know, and she has been away quite a bit lately.

Congrats for being the first to post a photo of Diana's new haircut too...don't you love it?!

Love to you!

Here I sit while Marianne fixes my hair. I have to look good when you see me. That will be at abou 7:30 this evening. The sun is shining bright this morning for a change. We have had some sun but mostly over-cast. Mari and I went up to Clearfield yesterday and had a wonderful visit with Uncle Robert. I had kinda' dreaded it because I thought he would look bad and be in bad shape. He is feeling good at the moment and really looked good. The visit was just as normal as it could be. I hope I get to visit again before he gets really bad.
Mari just finished my hair and I must go eat. Love you so much and am looking forward to being home again, although I have had a really good visit

I loved reading your post. Boy I couldn't agree more with you about enjoying the Christmas break. We too have been trying to milk it for all it's worth. We stay up LATE and we sleep in LATE and we wear p.j.'s most or all of the day and play games and eat and eat.
We have also enjoyed our wii. Brian, Blake, and I have began training for a little marathon. Wish me lots and lots of luck! (I don't run-at all).
Please take care! We love you all very much!

P.S. I pick up those pictures Sat. morning and I will send them to you!

Hi Gena, Happy New Year! I loved reading about the important things in your life. I'm confused about the darling Mary Englebreit cake, however. Who made it, did you, or your mom or Marianne? It is soooo cute!! Much too cute to eat! I'm happy you had such a nice holiday. I had asked for Wii Fit for Christmas but I don't think anyone took me seriously because I didn't get it. You know, they like to buy things they think I might REALLY use! I hear that your mom has returned home...wish her a Happy New Year from us.
