Happiness Is...

In searching for songs for the girls to use in musical auditions and concerts I ran onto an old friend, "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown." It comforts me to remember how easy it was to be happy once upon a time...

Happiness is finding a pencil, pizza with sausage, telling the time.
Happiness is learning to whistle, tying your shoes for the very first time.
Happiness is playing the drum in your own school band.
And happiness is walking hand in hand.

Happiness is two kinds of ice cream, knowing a secret, climbing a tree.
Happiness is five different crayons, catching a firefly, setting him free.
Happiness is being alone every now and then.
And happiness is coming home again.

Happiness is having a sister, sharing a sandwich, getting along.
Happiness is singing together when day is through,
And happiness is those who sing with you.

HAPPINESS IS MORNING AND EVENING,
DAYTIME AND NIGHTTIME TOO.
FOR HAPPINESS IS ANYONE AND ANYTHING AT ALL
THAT'S LOVED BY YOU.

Hi Gena, Nice to have you back. We just got home from a very melancholy movie and your post helped cheer me up. Thanks. The movie had a happy ending, I think, but getting to the end was pretty difficult. Now we're watching the Jazz game and they just went ahead (after trailing by a lot) so this is going to be a good night after all!! I'm looking forward to hearing from you in 2009.

Thanks for your nice comment on our post! Our hearts have always hurt for you and Steve in times that were tough for you, but you just don't know what it's really like until your there also. Brian hasn't been able to collect much money on any of the jobs he has done since about October. Apparently, people don't understand why Brian would want money for jobs that he's completed. Hmmm. Imagine that Brian actually wants to be paid for jobs that he's completed. What a concept, isn't it? Anyway, now there really isn't any work for him to collect any money on. Things are a bit rough but we do have a few months of reserve but it is very scary. We will keep praying for you guys and you keep praying for us. We sure love you guys!

Glad to see you back in the blogospere! I like that song, too, and needed that happy little reminder. I've had sort of a blue day (ending with a mounting migraine. . .). Hope you're feeling happy--love you!

P.S.: What musical is RV doing this year?

I love you Gena! I needed that happy reminder. I had a rough week. Since you are working all week I'll try to call you in the evening sometime.

Gena, Thanks for your sweet comment on my blog. I, too, hope we get to meet soon since I already feel like I know you as a good friend. I didn't know Steve was in the running for a job in Park City, how exciting!! I will pray for him (I have been) along with other members of our family who have been hit by this bad economy. Park City is a beautiful place, I think you could be happy there!! Good luck to all of you and Expect a Miracle!!

Grandma Helen, Thanks for your sweet comment on my blog. I love you...and it IS just like I've known you for years. You have a wonderful family and you should be proud of them, as I know you are. Yes, Brent is a wonderful dad, I know he shakes his head sometimes and wonders how in the world he got into this...but he is so helpful to Kami and, as she mentioned in her recent post, he has worked some miracles with Gavin. Brent and Kami really do just "click", they are so good for one another and we are so thankful for both of them and all of our family and yours too. We appreciate your friendship and acceptance of all of us. Regarding this being the anniversary of the passing of your husband..I'm so sorry he's gone and that you miss him but aren't we blessed to have the promises of the gospel and the knowledge that our families will be together again, I don't know how people cope with the death of a loved one without this understanding. I know that you know all of this and that it's still difficult but you do a wonderful job of cheering up the lives of those around you by your positive slant on things, so keep up the good work. We are praying for the Faria's!
