Lessons Learned

It's been a few weeks, again. I'm beginning to think I should just throw in the towel on this blog! I've been so remiss! Too much happens too quickly and I get myself so busy I don't often remember to document my life. So, here I sit in my nightgown at 11 in the morning, when I should be sewing on the 13 bolero jackets for the girls singing group, typing to you all. I'm really good at procrastination as you can tell by my blog and my dedication to my sewing.

Here are a few things I've learned through experience during the last few weeks.

1. IF YOU TAKE YOUR SONS SUITS TO BE DRY CLEANED MAKE SURE YOU GET THEM BACK BEFORE HE HAS TO SPEAK ABOUT HIS MISSION IN SACRAMENT MEETING.

To be fair I did ask a few people to help me remember (and it's not like they aren't adults too!). And I did remember, at 10 o'clock Saturday night.

2. SISTERS REALLY ARE THE BEST.

Not that I didn't know this already but it's nice to know. (she'll love me for this one)

3. DON'T LET HELEN ELLSWORTH WATCH INFOMERCIALS.

We now have in our possession the Time-Life collection titled "Romancing the 70's". Where do my impulse buying tendencies come from?

4. GENERAL CONFERENCE CONTINUES TO BE AWESOME!

I was so uplifted by the talks I can't find words to express it. There were so many powerful testimonies of our Savior! I love how refreshed and comforted I feel the entire weekend (too bad Monday has to come around...)

5. COMPULSIVE EATING HAS A NAME.

We were eating a dessert at Marianne's house and realized we really weren't hungry, but it tasted so good! The Looses can leave their dog food down all day and their dog, Sam, only eats when he finally gets hungry. On the other hand our pup, Charlie, can down the whole bowl in a minute. We decided we'd refer to comfort eating as "Schnauzing" after my adorable, perpetually munchy Miniature Schnauzer.

6. FULL DISCLOSURE IS NOT ALWAYS BEST.

If any member of my family finds a dead mouse (even a tiny baby one) somewhere in my house DON'T TELL ME!!! I've not been able to go to a certain area of my basement for a few weeks.

Gena, I'm so glad you're posting again. I mean we haven't heard anything about your recent trip to Utah or about Chris' homecoming talk (although now we know that he wasn't wearing a suit!!) Conference WAS amazing. I think the entire membership of the Church was collectively UPLIFTED! We missed some of it due to the Marathon but hope to catch up from replays on our BYU channel. Glad to know all is well...darling picture of Charlie.

Oh P.S. I laughed out loud at the picture of the 70's CD. I SWEAR I almost bought that from the infomercial. Those are MY songs. Good Job Grandma Helen!

Sisters ARE the best, aren't they? May I just remind you that I have quite a few wack-o pictures of you my dearie!

Nancy, you really should buy the CD's! We had so much fun listening to them while we played games! It brought back so many fun memories!Just don't listen to one one where all of the songs are about breaking up or lost love...we laughed out loud when we realized how depressing the mood had gotten!

Oh! I am "Schnauzing right now on the Chex Mix you left behind! Curse your treats!!

Gina please, oh please don't quit blogging. It's how I keep connected to you. I'd be so sad to not hear about your life even if it's once in awhile.

O.K. about Charlie, I swear that is a schnauzer thing the way they eat. I've been around numerous schnauzers and they all scarf their food down in about 10 sec. flat. Our Minnie scarfs her food down and then tries to eat Mollie's food also. It's not that Mollie is eating hers slow by any means Minnie is just a little faster. I like the "schnauzing" term. I am going to adopt that saying, I love it!

Now about that dry cleaner's story. I have done that twice with the boys church pants and Brian's suit. I am so sorry about that but I'm sure it all worked out anyway.

Sisters are the best, I'm glad that I have great sisters/sister in laws. I also agree that disclosure isn't always the best. Sorry about that mouse-yikes, but at least it was dead.

We love you! Have a fabulous week!

Don't stop blogging! I feel exactly the same way, especially since accepting my new church job six months ago--my blogging has dramatically decreased since then. I'm determined to forge ahead, even though there may be long periods between posts.
